We love our seas!

Conserving the earth's natural resources is a priority for us along our entire value chain. Every single step we take to be able to serve our guests delicious fish specialities should contribute to improving our green footprint. Here is an excerpt from our many activities:

Federal award 2018 ‘Too good for the bin!’

Food rescue initiatives are very important to us. Our commitment in this area was even honoured by Federal Minister Julia Klöckner with the 2018 ‘Too good for the bin!’ federal award. From a total of over 150 projects submitted, our two initiatives ‘Doggybag-Station ’ and ‘30% in the last 30 minutes before closing time’ were honoured in the catering category at . These were selected by a jury of 7 members, including Bärbel Dieckmann, President of Welthungerhilfe, as well as well-known people such as star chef Christian Rach and TV presenters Cherno Jobatey and Yvonne Willicks. We are proud of this award and want to continue to work with you to save food and protect our environment. Watch our video for more details. You can help too!

Clean seas & beaches

At NORDSEE, we actively fulfil our responsibility to keep our oceans and beaches clean. That's why we regularly invite our employees, as well as families, friends and interested parties, to clean certain sections of beach together. By joining forces, we have already been able to clear entire sections of beach and the hinterland of furniture, car tyres, wooden boards and other small items of rubbish in no time at all. You too can help with the next beach clean-up! Cleaning up is not only fun, it also protects the environment.

Protecting our bees

Bees are one of the most important farm animals. In this country, bees pollinate around 80 % of crops and wild plants, from carrots and fruit trees to tomatoes and clover. They therefore also ensure diversity on our plates and secure agricultural yields and food sources for many animal species (source: Homepage BMUB http://www.umwelt-im-unterricht.de/hintergrund/die-biene-eines-der-wichtigsten-nutztiere/).

As bees are increasingly under threat, we want to provide them with an additional habitat. Since summer 2016, there have been a total of four beehives on the roof of our new head office in Bremerhaven. The first honey was harvested in autumn 2016. An external beekeeper takes care of the bees and also looks after them in winter.
