People at NORDSEE

At NORDSEE, around 6,000 employees currently work in 372 branches; 175 of the employees are apprentices. The majority of the workforce is female (81%) and one in five NORDSEE employees has a migrant background. At 22%, employees with a Turkish passport are clearly in the majority, followed by Italian employees (6%) and Serbian and Polish employees (5% each). Our age structure shows a good mix: The age groups 20-30, 30-40, 40-50 and 50+ each account for about 20%; about 5% of our employees are older than 60, and the other 15% are younger than 20 years.

At NORDSEE, flexibility and work-life balance are very important. Most NORDSEE employees (75%) work part-time. We value employee retention. So 74% of employment contracts are not limited-term contracts.

Decades of employee loyalty and diversity charter

NORDSEE employees are satisfied and like to identify with their employer - this is shown, among other things, by the length of service. 42% of employees have worked at NORDSEE for ten years or longer. This is a figure that is well above the industry average.

NORDSEE is a reliable employer. Also for trainees. Those who graduate well are even guaranteed a permanent position. We are happy to support the integration of employees with a migration background through targeted support programmes. We are convinced that living and practising diversity and tolerance is beneficial for everyone. This enables us to utilise the different skills and experiences of our employees to the benefit of all sides. Fairness and appreciation in cooperation are part of the company's self-image. This is why NORDSEE has signed the Diversity Charter.

The Diversity Charter is a corporate initiative to promote diversity in companies and institutions. Its patron is German Chancellor Angela Merkel. The initiative aims to promote the recognition, appreciation and inclusion of diversity in corporate culture in Germany.

Fair working conditions

Since 1 January 2016, NORDSEE has been applying the collective agreement between the Federal Association of System Catering and the NGG trade union. We have been a committed member of the BdS since 2010 and have previously organised working conditions through our own in-house collective agreements and company regulations. NORDEE also recommends that franchise partners join the BdS value system.

Training for everyone

We offer a wide range of training opportunities for all employees on an ongoing basis. True to the motto ‘All for the branch’, we have specifically expanded our programme this year in order to be able to adapt to the constantly changing needs of our employees in the sales organisation and head office. Our 360° FIT programme (Skills Individual Training) offers seminars, workshops and tailored training courses directly at the workplace on request. These are clearly presented on around 70 pages in our seminar catalogue. Numerous internal training courses are offered on topics relating to team and personal development, as well as fish and specialist knowledge. You will also find external programmes, including part-time study courses. Our aim is to support and encourage and, of course, to approach the people who come to us.

Internal health management

Safe working conditions and a healthy working environment are a top priority for us. To ensure this, an external service provider regularly inspects all branches with regard to occupational health and safety, for example, and the company doctors, who are familiar with the working environment, offer employees health checks or preventive medical examinations. NORDSEE also offers its employees anonymous, external, everyday practical and psychological counselling in the event of personal and workplace-related difficulties. The Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) helps with private issues such as financial worries, separation and caring for relatives, as well as with difficulties at work. There are also various programmes to promote health in the workplace, such as free smoking cessation courses. NORDSEE offers employees who want to develop personally outside the company the opportunity to take a sabbatical. There is also an additional parental leave programme, which makes it easier to combine work and family life.
